The Cat, The Cockerel and The Fox

| The Cat heard him, ran down the Fox and beat her. Then he brought the Cockerel to their home and said: | "Be good and docile! Don't listen foxy songs! Don't open a window! I go far away and should not hear your voice." | |
| But the Fox again is here! She sat under the window and sang her foxy songs: "There is a wonderful toboggan near from here and you Cockerel can sledge..." | ||

| "Where is a toboggan?- the Cockerel leans out of the window... | and Reynard catch him and pull out the window and hurry to her burrow over the blue woods... | |

|
And the Cockerel shouted and cried but the Cat should not hear him.. |
||
| When the Cat had return to their lodge there was not the Cockerel. | "Poor little creature!- thought the Cat - the Sly Fox cheated you again!" | |

| He took his gusli and hurry to Reynard's burrow . And he sat down and played and sang: | "Don-don my gusli with silver strings. Is there pretty Fox at home?" | |

And the Fox leaned out of burrow to see
who is sing so well.
There was a big fight here! The Fox took to flight.

| The Cat with the poor Cockerel had
return to their lodge. And since then they
live together peacefully and lucky. And the Reynard never came again. You may be sure of that. |
